A school entirely built of portable buildings is replaced with an exemplar 21st century learning facility with strong connections to nature. Kimberly worked with Habitat for Humanity on the design of sustainable, affordable and easy-tobuild housing.

The approach

Kimberly worked with Habitat for Humanity on the design of sustainable, affordable and easy-to build housing. The project explored how sustainable, innovative and contemporary housing design solutions can be achieved at low-cost, with low-skilled volunteer labour and standard construction materials. This project culminated in the construction of the pilot house design in a five-lot blitz build in Portland, Oregon USA. The five houses were built in one week by five local contractors. We watched in awe as five quality homes were built at speed. And at the end of the week, five families were given keys to a new home.
