The organisation was located in a cellular type office arrangement which was negatively impacting staff morale, collegiality and productivity. In a bold move, management purchased a new building with large open plan office space that would enable the creation of functional, collaborative and collegial work environment. Through a series of robust user discovery workshops and small group interviews, we created a brief for the project. The concept for the design strategically used the key program elements, meeting rooms, board room and offices to define the work and break-out spaces. As the existing building has a narrow footprint, we inserted a garden and skylight into the middle of the space to ensure all staff have access to ‘greenery’ and daylight for good health and well-being. Large pinboard, whiteboard and rope display walls encourage clients and staff to co-create, share ideas and work in a new inclusive, light, bright and adaptable workspace.
